Francesca's Workbench 2023-Present
I have been thinking and looking towards the future for a while now. Post pandemic life has shed light on all the ways society is not working and it cannot be any more apparent today. My artist name is now Francesca DIA, standing for Francesca does it all. Art by becoming is now evolving to Francesca's Workbench where I explore liberation through different art mediums such as 3d art and other digital art. Francesca's workbench will be the art that is crafted and created from looking towards the future and imagining what "objects of the future" would look like. These items will heavily center beauty, freedom, humanity and functionality. I want to explore the following questions: If society was so technologically advanced that humans finally had free time, how would society be able to progress beyond capitalism? What would society look like when we center the environment, humanity, beauty, comfort and everything in between. I will begin populating this page with visuals of digital items and physical items I can craft. During this time, I am heavily influenced by solar punk, afro futurism, afrosurrealism aesthetics, a socialist worldview, radical hopefulness and and an absurdist philosophy. Art by Becoming 2019-2021
Art by becoming is my brand that I've built to document the art that I produce as I evolve as a person, as a human. (Art By Becoming now operates under Francesca D.I.A LLC) I understand that fundamentally, if I am alive, I will constantly change. I wanted my art to be a reflection of that. Art by becoming was created in 2019 and evolved as a handmade jewelry brand up until 2021. I focused on producing earrings using materials such as dried flowers, resin, beads and clay. During this time I was able to successfully deliver over 500 online orders across the United States and over 100 in person sales. During this time I focused heavily on color, portraits in water color and gouache paint and the overall theme was self expression through beauty. I painted and commissioned many portraits which you will see a few below. I intend on taking metalsmith and casting classes in the near future so expect a revival here soon!
